Maglite XL100 LED Flashlight

The Maglite XL100 features "Advanced Flashlight User Interface" that allows you to easily adjust the brightness or strobe rate by rotating your wrist right or left while holding the XL100 flashlight. With its convenient memory function, the next time you turn on the XL100 it will automatically use the level you have previously selected.

Operation of the MagLite XL100 LED Flashlight:
• press and release the tail switch for constant on, press again for off
• to select a mode, hold the flashlight horizontal to the ground with the icon of the desired mode
     at 12 o'clock, press and hold the switch for longer than 1 second
• brightness of the XL100 can be adjusted by continuing to press the tailcap while
     rotating your wrist right or left; release at desired level
• blink rate of the XL100 can be changed by selected the "Strobe" mode icon, hold the tail switch
     and rotate your wrist right or left; release at desired level
• Nite Lite - select Nite Lite mode icon, press and hold switch until the XL100 blinks once, then
     set XL100 flashlight at desired stationary location and the light will automatically dim to a low brightness setting;
     if the flashlight is moved, it will return to full power
• Lockout - this feature will prevent accidental activation; to engage, aim the XL100 to the ceiling,
     then press and hold the switch while rotating the flashlight downward and aiming the light
     to the floor, release the switch, it is now in lockout mode; repeat steps to disengage lockout

I purchased the XL-100 two years ago and have used it almost daily ever since. I have been extremely pleased with it. It actually has 104 lumens instead of the advertised 83 lumens. It has been absolutely reliable with a very intense beam of light that exceeded my expectations. It's many functions have proved quite useful. Of course it's most important feature is the instant on/ off with a click of the tail cap. All other functions require it to be oriented correctly but they are still fairly easy to access with the tactile indicator on the tail cap. It's lowest setting of 7 lumens is great for close work or reading where you would be blinded by using full power. Also, I now use rechargeable NIMH batteries so I can always have a super bright light without wasting batteries. My first light developed a problem a couple of days after I bought it, so BrightGuy immediately sent a replacement with a return sticker. I am serious about my flashlights and this one has really pleased me. I would give the XL-100 and BrightGuy +5 stars. I will buy from them again.

I was not sure about this new Maglite. After getting use to it I rely like it a lot. Even if you don't like the features it has, you never know when you need to use something you have! the best feature is the dimmer mode and, lock out mode! One good way too make it grip better and, with a hook. Nite Ize GRIP 'N CLIP 2AA. It will be very tight to put on! Slip the clip side on at the reflector end. Carefully pull up having the clip heading towards the 12:00 O'clock position button nub. You want to have it that way so your finger can slip right in the loop. And your going to have it right where you want it At the 12:00 position. Over time it will loosen a tiny bit. So far mine has held on nicely. The bad thing is right where it swivels if it is to close to button when you move around it will turn on the light. So adjust to your likeness? It stays right on my hand!

Very coool little torch. Bright too.
has many features. It doesn't come with a holster, no biggie, the awesome guys at Brightguy will hook you up with a great
holster. no problem. i like the long runtime
for nite lite apps. 201 hours..WOW...
i like the variable everything..this torch
in every mode is variable..i like the rotate
feature which has no moving parts, just rotate the torch north and rock it right or left and you adjust it's output..very coool.

Package rates it at 83 lumens. Very bright light with innovative UI that allows variable settings of 5 different modes. Body seems thin walled compared to say, an XO3 Inova. Shiny black anodized finish with partially knurled barrel. Noticeable lag to max brightness after clicking tailcap switch but not a problem. The UI is easy to use but determining which mode is at the 12 oclock position is near impossible in darkness. Strobe can be set from slow to very fast. I can see the nitelite mode being useful perhaps while camping, making it easy to find after you set it down, fall asleep, and wake up for some reason in total darkness (same for power outage situations). Package says 201 hours runtime in lowest dimmest setting. Signal and SOS modes seem gimmicky unless I find myself in a situation when signaling for help with a light is a last resort. No lanyard attachment or holster. I will probably plastidip rubber coating on the barrel for a better grip.
