Streamlight Twin-Task 2D flashlight offers a patented LED/Xenon combination, so you can choose between a super-bright light (xenon) and an incredibly long runtime (LED). I own many SL flashlights that I'm very happy with, but the "2D Twin-Task Flashlight" is without question a big disappointment. In fact, I predict it will be discontinued, On the positive side it is very well built and very good looking. Regardless, there are almost to many negatives to write about because there are several non-chargeable "D-CELL" flashlights that perform much better, such as MagLite's 2D LED at a much less costly bottom line. The "2D Twin Task" multi-power lighting concept is wonderful, but fails big time in light output performance at all three selections. It is a grossly under-powered for a D-Cell flashlight in usable lighting... All this flashlight needs to be a great flashlight is do away with its current multiple selection lighting system (which is currently an annoying selection process between 'on and off' to get to your choice of lighting), and move up to C4 technology only! After speaking with a SL rep, they have no plans to upgrade the 2D Twin Task because the C4 upgrade would add about $40 to its current cost; but as is now, it's all negated because the 2D Task is useless in its current configuration. It's a real shame to produce such a wonderfully built D-Cell flashlight, and leave it so underpowered in it's lighting output at any selected setting. Again, if this light were C4 LED technology with its 2 D-Cell batteries would be worth an increase to its overall price, and would then become an outstanding system from SL. You'll have to move up to a recghargeable system to get the lighting you desire at a more costly option when all the 2D Task needs is C4 tecnology at a slight increase in cost. I'm very disappointed with this Twin Task and cannot recommend it as a flashlight, but it would make a good paper weight if it had an anti-roll feature.
