Streamlight Knucklehead Work Light has a 360 degree rotating head and is equipped with a removable heavy-duty magnet and folding hook so you can put light just where you need it. Dual C4 LEDs provide 200 lumens of light in high. Rechargeable models are available with a variety of charging options and include an alkaline battery tray, so it can be powered by 4 AA batteries (alkaline or lithium) in a pinch (see charging options in bullet points below). Non-rechargeable alkaline models are also available (runs on 4 AA batteries).

Streamlight has come out with a very solid performer in the Knucklehead. I have the AA non-rechargeable version. The beam is soft enough to be usable in a worklight situation, but still has enough structure to lend itself to a number of applications. So far, battery life has been very good. I'm not sure how much I'll use the magnet, so I may wind up taking that off the light. But all in all, it's proved to be a very useful light. It's a very handy design.

I am very impressed with this light. It is very well constructed and has a good, quality feel to it. I bought it for a work light and have not used it "on location" yet (unless you count a darkened bathroom), but I believe it will function very well for this purpose. Light output on low is surprisingly bright, and high is searing. Given that the batteries will last more than four times longer on low, I can't imagine many instances where high will be needed, but nice to have just in case. Moonlight mode (claims to last 20 days) is bright enough to read by or see your way around a dark room. I'm not sure what possible function "strobe" would serve on a worklight, but it's there. I would have much rather had another constant level between moonlight and low.

The beam is very nice with a soft hot-spot and plenty of even side fill thanks to a well-designed, textured reflector. Only has some very minor artifacts - hardly noticeable unless you're looking for them. The swivel head can turn in any direction except down and works easily and smoothly.

The cleverly designed hanging hook is very functional and tucks neatly out of the way when not in use. The magnetic mount attaches with a screw and you can choose to have it on or not - it does add a not-insignificant amount of weight but seems very powerful. You could use it as a handheld flashlight, but is not as comfortable in the hand as one designed for this.

Complaints: To get to moonlight mode, you have to hold the switch down for about eight seconds while the light is strobing for much of that time. If the battery compartment were just a smidgeon wider it would hold four C size batteries which would last about three times longer. There is a carrier for the AAs that wastes a lot of space in the compartment. They obviously designed it around the rechargeable batttery pack. Also, the pack will fit into the light in either direction (reversing the polarity) but the door will only close when it is correct. I have to assume it is protected from reversed polarity as the terminals are energized as soon as the pack goes in. Unfortunately, there is a sticker on the carrier stating that use of lithium batteries will void the warranty. If they had half-star ratings, I would knock off half a star for these minor complaints.

All in all, a very practical, well-designed light, highly recommended.
