Streamlight Sidewinder Flashlight

Streamlight Sidewinder Tactical-Sportsman Model has a bright white C4 LED plus red, blue and green LEDs. Each LED has 4 brightness levels plus strobe. The Sportman model powers on at high output and steps down to low. The Streamlight Sidewinder runs on 2 AA alkaline batteries and is lithium AA compatible. Streamlight Sidewinder has a spring steel clip for easy attachment to belt, backpack loop or MOLLE. The clip can be mounted on either side of the Sidewinder.

Rating:

This is an ideal flashlight for a civilian pilot. I use it on my job flying a B747 worldwide.This includes military charters into a well known central Asian country. The reason I did not opt for the aviation model was the IR led which I do not need. I also wanted the Red Led which the aviation model does not include.


The reasons I Like this light are...

1... The white beam is bright enough for pre-flight, but dims low enough for cockpit use.

2... The availability of Red and Green Leds for low light conditions. These also dim.

3... The squarish design will not roll away, even in turbulence.

4... The combination of the tilting head and clip makes for easy, and flexible hands-free use. Flashlight can be operated with one hand as well.

5... The use of AA batteries which are easier to find than CR123. Even in airport gift shops. I prefer rechargeable NiMH batteries, but can also use alkaline or Lithium if I'm in a bind.

6... Finally, the build and construction are high quality. You need not worry about this light failing you in some remote location.

MY ONLY COMPLAINT is I wish this model started up in low mode and then stepped up like the Aviation model does.
