M. S. from MO Ozarks gives it a 0.5 and says.. I compared the E20 and a Stramlight recharge Stinger led ($100+ with few charging classy options) in a fairly dark large living room. The E20 has brighter whiter and more powerful center long throw beam - later than nightr on slightly hazy dark nigt did tree tops over 400 feet away - and larger brighter and more natural spectrum peripheral light.
I used Panasonic Alkalines, 2200 Eneloops, and 2700 MAHA in my test. Results were consistent w/ perfect regulation. I didn't take the time for time of run check, but would bet the alkalines would do 50 minutes the 2200s 3-3.5 hours and the 2700s 3.5- 4.5.
Switch is just flat sexy. Stinger led recharge is a one hour light on high. Not very impressive when you look at the E20s times and Fenix does not exaggerate. I didn't bother to compare w/ a 2AA Maglite pitful "blue" light, unregulated that I had laying there. It would have beeen pointless. As I recollect the Mag had cost about $25 compared w/ the E20 - kind of a no brainer. The mag has barely a Class 2 coat and crummy plastic lens. The E20 is full ClassIII with a non reflective temperd mineral glass lens.
also machined like a Rolex.
One hell of a light.
