This is not your father's penlight! As I've come to expect from Fenix, the quality, fit and finish are excellent. The switch is well designed and has a good feel. High is extremely bright for any light, much less a penlight. I like that it comes on in medium bright since that is likely the most-used level. It then cycles to low (good for close-up work) and retina-searing high.

My only "complaint" would be that to acheive the lower light levels, the power is strobed to the LED, which is pretty common for regulating many LED lights. The strobing is faster than the eye can detect, until motion is introduced and then it can become apparent. (Like some LED taillights on cars that strobe when you scan your eyes back and forth.) All in all, highly recommended if you need a light of this type.
