Freeplay EyeMax WB 2009 delivers unparalleled sound quality, playtime performance, dependability and durability. A finely geared mechanical tuning system ensures accurate control in selecting your preferred AM or FM station. This FreePlay EyeMax WB receives US government (NOAA) and Canadian government (MSC) weather broadcasts. It is now more than just a solar and hand crank powered radio, the EyeMax WB 2009 is equipped with a line-in input and cable that allows it to be used as a solar powered speaker system for iPod and mp3 players. The EyeMax WB 2009 also has a built-in white LED flashlight.

Details of the Freeplay Wind-Up System:
The wind-up mechanism in the EyeMax WB 2009 is the world's most efficient human energy conversion system. The winder can be cranked in both directions, and the harder you crank, the more energy you create. A crank level LED lights up to indicate optimum winding speed. The Freeplay wind-up system is built around a custom designed, highly efficient alternator. The architecture of this patented system has been developed to maximize the ability of the user to convert human mechanical energy into stored electricity quickly and efficiently. While the basis of Freeplay's superiority lies in the performance of this wind-up system, Freeplay has extended the engineering excellence to every aspect of the radio. The winder handle is made from tough re-enforced nylon and is designed for comfort and ease of use. The transmission (gear train) is constructed to high manufacturing tolerances from re-enforced nylon and acetyl. The transmission has undergone accelerated lifetime testing in excess of 500,000 cycles. Under wind-up conditions, the batteries receive a conditioning charge that negates the memory effect common to rechargeable batteries. Freeplay wind-up systems have reflected no significant battery capacity loss after 10,000 crank charge cycles.

Details of the Freeplay Solar Panel:
Freeplay EyeMax's highly efficient and robust solar panel is powerful enough that, when exposed to sufficient sunlight, it will charge the batteries and drive the radio at the same time. Even when you're not using it, the radio will charge itself up if left in the sun. High performance polycrystalline epoxy coated solar panel with 4.2V 52mA output.

The EyeMax WB wind-up radio/flashlight is equipped with an AC power adapter that allows you to charge it and run it from a wall power outlet for added convenience.
