Operation of the MagLite XL100 LED Flashlight:
• press and release the tail switch for constant on, press again for off
• to select a mode, hold the flashlight horizontal to the ground with the icon of the desired mode
     at 12 o'clock, press and hold the switch for longer than 1 second
• brightness of the XL100 can be adjusted by continuing to press the tailcap while
     rotating your wrist right or left; release at desired level
• blink rate of the XL100 can be changed by selected the "Strobe" mode icon, hold the tail switch
     and rotate your wrist right or left; release at desired level
• Nite Lite - select Nite Lite mode icon, press and hold switch until the XL100 blinks once, then
     set XL100 flashlight at desired stationary location and the light will automatically dim to a low brightness setting;
     if the flashlight is moved, it will return to full power
• Lockout - this feature will prevent accidental activation; to engage, aim the XL100 to the ceiling,
     then press and hold the switch while rotating the flashlight downward and aiming the light
     to the floor, release the switch, it is now in lockout mode; repeat steps to disengage lockout

in every mode is variable..i like the rotate
feature which has no moving parts, just rotate the torch north and rock it right or left and you adjust it's output..very coool.

Package rates it at 83 lumens. Very bright light with innovative UI that allows variable settings of 5 different modes. Body seems thin walled compared to say, an XO3 Inova. Shiny black anodized finish with partially knurled barrel. Noticeable lag to max brightness after clicking tailcap switch but not a problem. The UI is easy to use but determining which mode is at the 12 oclock position is near impossible in darkness. Strobe can be set from slow to very fast. I can see the nitelite mode being useful perhaps while camping, making it easy to find after you set it down, fall asleep, and wake up for some reason in total darkness (same for power outage situations). Package says 201 hours runtime in lowest dimmest setting. Signal and SOS modes seem gimmicky unless I find myself in a situation when signaling for help with a light is a last resort. No lanyard attachment or holster. I will probably plastidip rubber coating on the barrel for a better grip.
