Build quality is your typical SureFire. Solid with no issues whatsoever. The color does make the light VERY easy to find in limited ambient lighting. You can add the reflective material to not only the body but also to the tailcap and head if you so choose. Solid strips of reflective material are provided for that purpose. There are two sizes, one of which fits neatly into the tailcap grooves. This light is hazardous location rated, but I did not see any information with mine to explain whether it is Division 1, Division 2, or simply meets the military specification listed. SureFire really should propvide additional information with the light regarding that.

Switch is a forward clicky with momentary and lock out. The switch button protrudes slightly to provide ease of access with gloved hands. Personally I wish it stuck out just a bit farther for those of us with smaller than average hands and / or really heavy gloves. The tailcap design does not allow for tail standing.

Output without any diffusers in place provides a fairly tight beam with useable short range side spill even on low power. At any significant distance the side spill becomes marginal. The hotspot provided by the reflector seems smaller to me than that provided by the TIR optics on other lights such as the E2DL but is very useable and clean. Tint is a little on the cool side but not objectionable. The user is provided with three diffusers which can be installed behind the lens to provide for less throw and more spill / flood lighting as desired. No tools are required to open the bezel on this model and making the change is easy. That makes this light very flexible for uses such as equipment inspection and other situations where more side spill is desirable. Couple that with the three power levels and this light becaomes very versatile.

Output power on all levels is correctly stated based upon my eye and as compared to my LX2, E2DL, and E2L. The 115 lumen output appears to be correctly stated, so please do not expect to find hidden SureFire lumens in there. I suspect that unless full power is absolutely necessary due to environmental conditions most folks will use medium power as the difference to the eye between medium and high is not all that great. Using medium also provides great run time. Even on low power this light will throw a useable beam about 100 feet even with some ambient lighting based upon real world usage and with up to 30+ hours of runtime on low you have a nice emergency / survival type light.

Would have given the light five stars but the switch was not quite up to my personal taste as discussed above and I wish the runtime on high was a little better given that I can obtain two hours at 200 lumens on my E2DL and LX2. That being said it is important to note the hazard location rating of this light and that no doubt does explain the choices of LED and switch design. Take my personal taste out of the equation and the light does deserve five stars for build quality, overall performance and run time.

I like it well enough for it to have earned a place in my every day carry rotation and there is some tough competition there given the number and type of lights I own and use. Bottom line, if you need a hazardous location rated light, a high visibility light, or a light that provides ample flexibility without gratuitous lumens then this light may work out very well for you.
